GoFundMe Community Guidelines
Userlevel 3

The GoFundMe Community is a space where kind people can come together to share tips, ideas, stories, and advice. Here you can find encouragement and support during the fundraising process or learn more before starting your fundraising journey.

This community is a public space, and in order to keep it welcoming for all, we’ve created the rules below. These rules will change and evolve over time as our community grows, so please check back regularly for updates.

  1. Be kind: This is meant to be a place for productive and positive interactions. You never know what may be going on in someone else’s life, so please treat each other with respect, empathy and kindness.
  2. Stay organized: Try to streamline questions and answers by doing a quick search of the community to see if there’s an ongoing conversation already. Write simply, clearly, and make sure to include enough detail so others can engage with you easily.
  3. Get involved: Your experiences and expertise can be valuable for others to learn from. We encourage you to share your knowledge, experiences, questions, and more! Posts should be more than just a copy of (or link to) your fundraiser. As this is a space primarily for GoFundMe organizers to connect, asking for donations or shares is not allowed.
  4. We’re here to help: If you have specific questions about your GoFundMe account and/or withdrawals, please reach out to our Customer Care team here. They will be able to dig into your account details and ensure your account questions are answered. Alternatively, if you have a more general issue, you can visit our Help Center or post your question in Tech Questions and get a response from experts in the community.
  5. Uphold GoFundMe’s policies: As a member of the community, you agree to abide by the GoFundMe Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Any violation to our policies, standards or guidelines will be grounds for removal, as determined by GoFundMe in its absolute discretion.
  6. Help keep the community kind: Our team is committed to making the GoFundMe Community a welcoming environment. Please give us a hand– if you see something that violates our Guidelines or the GoFundMe Terms of Service, report it by using the “flag” button on any post or reply so our team can investigate.

So glad to be here. Trying to learn as much as I possibly can from this community. Any tips on navigating the different boards and communities? I am getting it slowly but surely but appreciate any advise that will make getting around easier.

thanks,

Hi @Donna Harris You can find each board listed in the drop down menu of the Community section at the top of your screen. If you’re using a mobile device, you can scroll down the main page and find each room listed under “Discussion Rooms.” If you have a specific question in mind or need advice on something in particular, you can type it into the search bar in the community and any similar discussions that already exist will pop up as well!

I'm not exactly sure how to go about asking people for their help.. I have posted on social media and so has my daughter.. we've gotten a couple donations but also receiving a lot of negative feedback that I fear is stopping others from possibly donating.. because we are trying to pay off our house, and it's my husband, 8 year old grandson, my daughter and her fiancee and their 2 children.. well comments being made are that there is 4 adults in the house hold so there shouldn't be an issue to raise the money.. well my husband had a bad work accident that messed up his spine and he receives disability, which doesn't even cover our monthly bills.. my daughter had to quit her job because her daughter was having mental health problems and now she is looking for a new job with less hours but uts complicated because her vehicle is having engine issues.. her fiancee has a full time job and he helps as much as possible with bills but he also has bills such as a car payment and supporting 2 children.. I myself can't work because I have arthritis all through my body and makes daily tasks at home barely doable... I'm sorry I made it so long I just want to fully explain that we have been trying, and have made no progress... can't get a loan because we unfortunately have bad credit and no one will give us a chance..

I’m confused🧐

My team members can’t access the donors to send thank you’s.  I looked at my settings and everything seems to be in order.  Also, I tried to used the message button to send information to the team and it says to select the email you will be using but I don’t see a way to navigate there.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @Zeddrick Stidem what are you confused about? Would love to help clarify anything I can!

Hey @Anita Kuharski I’m seeing that your donors who have accepted their team invite have the ability to thank the donors from their accounts. They just need to sign in with their email to do so. For your other question, the product should pull up your computer’s email application. If you have any more trouble with that, let me know, and I can forward you to our care team for extra support.

Thank you Jules.  My team members reported back to me they can now access the donors to say thank you. I think the issue might have been with their computers and not the website.

I am still not able to use the messaging system to email my team members.  A blue window pops open and tells me to  choose the account from which to send the email from, but there are no links or buttons to make a selection.

Hey everyone I’m new to this platform. I really need help getting started my life is going so bad right now. Anything helps even advice thank you.

@Anita Kuharski  I created a support request for you with our customer care team to help you troubleshoot the messaging tool. Please keep an eye out for their reply via email.
