People come to GoFundMe for all sorts of reasons - to help fund needs and dreams, for themselves or for others. And the truth is, we all need some inspiration and uplifting sometimes, especially during the fundraising process.

So we want to know, what's your favorite quote or the best advice you’ve ever received?

I agree, @Cris!

There’s a quote I always return to when I’m hitting a wall and I hope that our organizers can relate to it when they’re trying to reach their fundraising goals.

I don’t think I really understood the quote when I first heard it; but now, where I’m at in life, I definitely understand how this quote lends itself to so many kinds of moments, here we go, Samuel Beckett once said: “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”

For me, this is all about trying something new and maybe not quite getting it, but having the gumption to keep going until you do; it takes risk, it takes courage, it’s a bold and courageous act to put yourself out there in the wind. We all have to learn to walk before we run, we have to learn how to run before we learn how to fly.

Thanks for the Friday prompt, @Olivia, this was really fun and a nice way to break up the day. :)

Hi my name is Jose Benavides  I am a first time user to the GoFundMe Community. I just recently lost my father Jose G. Barocio so suddenly and wasn't sure about how to get help. He had no insurance or money. I am glad I started a GoFundMe for him so far it's helping but still have ways to go I pray I meet this goal but still no matter what I am thankful and appreciative. THANK YOU and GOD BLESS 🙏

Favorite Quote: "Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one" - Bruce Lee

She is clothed in strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future- this bible verse is tattooed on my ribs at age 23. And now at age 30 I need to meditate on those words more frequently. But they ALWAYS give me strength to know I CAN handle anything life throws sat me!!

LEAF PEOPLE
Some people come into your life and they are like leaves on a tree. They are only there for a season. You can't depend on them or count on them because they are weak and only there to give you shade. Like leaves, they are there to take what they need and as soon as it gets cold or a wind blows in your life they are gone. You can't be angry at them, it's just who they are.

BRANCH PEOPLE
There are some people who come into your life and they are like branches on a tree. They are stronger than leaves, but you have to be careful with them. They will stick around through most seasons, but if you go through a storm or two in your life it's possible that you could lose them. Most times they break away when it's tough. Although they are stronger than leaves, you have to test them out before you run out there and put all your weight on them. In most cases they can't handle too much weight. But again, you can't be mad with them, it's just who they are.

ROOT PEOPLE
If you can find some people in your life who are like the roots of a tree then you have found something special. Like the roots of a tree, they are hard to find because they are not trying to be seen. Their only job is to hold you up and help you live a strong and healthy life. If you thrive, they are happy. They stay low key and don't let the world know that they are there. And if you go through an awful storm they will hold you up. Their job is to hold you up, come what may, and to nourish you, feed you and water you.

Just as a tree has many limbs and many leaves, there are few roots. Look at your own life. How many leaves, branches and roots do you have? What are you in other people's lives?

THANK GOD FOR THE ROOTS!

The best quote that I have ever received was “ Tough times don’t last, tough people do” And times are hard for me and I know that I will get through it with my baby girl. To whoever is having a hard time always remember that, and I truly wish the best for everyone.

One of my favorite quotes is from my father. He said this to me when I was around ten years old. “If you let a person talk long enough, they will tell on themselves”. As I got older I added this to the quote, “and they will reveal who they really are”. It made me feel better to add my own spin on it.

“Keep trying, never give up” exactly what I’m doing. I’m looking for support on my sensitive issue.

“Fall down 10 times, get back up 11. It’s okay to ask for help and pray for the kindness of others. As you are rewarded for the life of giving yourself to serving the underserved” - my late grandmother told me that. Rest In Peace.

Loving this thread! My favourite quote of all time is one by the great Maya Angelou. It goes as such:

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.”

I appreciate the compassion for self that this quote represents for me. This quote soothes and challenges me at the same time.

The understanding that I don’t have to allow my past mistakes hold me hostage from healing and moving forward in life. Whenever I fall into the dark hole of crippling regret, this quote allows me to show myself kindness and grace as well as the courage and determination to learn from my mistakes and not make them again. On the flip side, this quote also challenges me to never be complacent and always seek knowledge to better myself. By doing that and educating myself, I can analyse if I know better or not and do better once I’ve figured that out, and I’m clear on what ‘better’ is in each situation I find myself in. I believe that sometimes, folks are not even aware that they aren’t doing better. This quote reminds me that ignorance cannot be an excuse and is no longer acceptable.

Through life struggles become normal and control more of an illusion, for the ultimate ending remains the same.

In this realization comes freedom and beauty it allows for humanity to shine. To live and appreciate every moment and to free your soul to give of yourself because your legacy is not what you aquire but who you inspired along the way, like ripples in a pond it will reverberate long after you are gone

Hi everyone, I’m new to GoFundMe.

And I always believed in

“One small act of kindness can go a long way”

Hi everyone I’m new to GoFundMe, I’ve always believed in

“you are not your circumstances, you are what you make yourself to be.”
where I come from the youth doesn’t have much support, and it’s hard to make a name or living for ourselves. In our community we struggle daily, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t destined to be something great !

I'm broke now but it's not going to be forever.

People come to GoFundMe for all sorts of reasons - to help fund needs and dreams, for themselves or for others. And the truth is, we all need some inspiration and uplifting sometimes, especially during the fundraising process.

Don’t take criticism from someone you would never go to for advice.

You can have all the money, material things, and the perfect body but if you are not right mentally, then those other things do not matter.

I was given this advice from a friend after going through the darkest moment in my life.

thank you!

Keep looking up because you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel if you’re looking down.

Hi all im here raising money for Lupus treatment!

i try to stay optimistic as possible despite everything.

My favorite quote is from Nightbirde : Some people will call it ‘blind denial’ but i prefer to call it rebellious hope.

Her battle with cancer is heart wrenching but her mind is strong.

Not drunk is he who from the floor can rise alone and still drink more, but drunk is he who prostrate lies without the power to drink and rise.
