@Rachael Bosarge Here’s the steps to add a video to your story:

  1. Sign in to your GoFundMe account
  2. Select the fundraiser you would like to manage
  3. Select "Edit" underneath the campaign title
  4. Select “Story” and press the "Photo/video" option
  5. Select “Add a YouTube video" to paste the link to your video

After you select continue a few times and press "Save,” you’ll see a green banner letting you know that the changes have been saved.

If you’re still having trouble, let me know and I can connect you to our customer care team so they can upload that for you!

I’m having the same problem. This doesn’t seem to work for youtube shorts. It keeps saying the URL is invalid

Same problem here. Cannot upload a YouTube shorts URL.

Please advise.

Same boat.

I’ve also tried going to the options in the video in YouTube Studio (three dots) → get sharable link. Using this option does give you a different URL, however, I received the same error message within the GoFundMe app.

Can you talk to the developers or create some sort of internal ticket that can be tracked for this problem?

@newrad @McKenna Crager While you can add a Youtube video in place of a main image on your fundraiser, Youtube Shorts aren’t supported on GoFundMe at this time. Youtube Shorts are a newer feature on Youtube and aren’t formatted correctly to work with the GoFundMe site yet. So sorry for the inconvenience!

Sounds like an update is in order. I can’t believe this problem still exists.

Can anyone advise on how to post a video that’s a short on Youtube?  Is there a way to convert the Youtube videos to a format that works with Gofundme? This is incredibly frustrating that I can’t update my donors.  I don’t understand why gofundme takes fees for providing their services but doesn’t update the site to be compatible with youtube, nor provide email addresses of donors if they aren’t going to allow us to update them via the site.  I’m going to have to update my donors on this shortcoming and request their emails and let them know that gofundme’s site isn’t working properly :(

Hi Lori, I had the same issue when I tried to post an update for my dog Max's status. What I ended up doing is stringing a few shorter videos into one longer one using Microsoft Photos (which is a decent video editor every Windows machine has for free) to go over the sixty second time length which would make it a YouTube Short. I then uploaded it as usual, and voila! Hope this helps!

Same problem getting so frustrated... So how do I make this "short" YouTube video into one that the link can be copied onto GoFundMe ??? Not tech savvy either

@Taylor Budde If you make your video longer than 60 seconds, you can upload it to your GoFundMe. If the video is shorter than 60 seconds it's automatically made into a YouTube short so anything longer than that can be uploaded as a regular Youtube video.

This frustrated me to no end! I found a solution. Update the URL.

Change “shorts/” to “watch?v=”

Alrighty guys, here’s the fix:

A shorts url looks like this:

https://youtube.com/shorts/KikdYGe5DsM

A normal video looks like this:

https://youtu.be/m5i0YOrFrRQ

Solution:

  1. Add a . after the youtu
  2. removes the /shorts
  3. It should look like this https://youtu.be/KikdYGe5DsM
  4. You got yourself a usable link 🎉

Good luck everyone who are going through a hard time 💗
