What is the advice when you set the goal lower than what is needed but are nearing it?  Do you raise the goal or does this look greedy?  The people in question lost their home and their dogs.. it’s a horrible tragedy caused by nature.  Please advise.  thankyou!

Hey @Jamee Dunn great question! And thanks so much for stepping up to help the Fritts family. We always recommend starting with a lower, more attainable goal in the beginning. If you decide to raise the amount, just be sure to be transparent with your donors by posting an update explaining why you’re doing so. As long as you’re really clear about the goal amount and how exactly the funds will be used, it doesn’t look greedy at all.

Olivia, I am raising funds for a Ukrainian refugee family staying with us so they can find an apartment, make security deposits, buy furniture, car, school supplies etc..  I set a target of $5K and we will achieve that in less than 48 hours and I know many other people who are interested in contributing that have not yet.  Obviously every dollar helps.  Do I raise the target or just let people contribute over and above the stated target, or better to just end it when hitting the target?  I want to raise as much as we can for them but not alienate anyone who is inspired to donate in thinking that this is greedy.

Thank you,

Shank

Hey @SHANKAR SWAMY great question, and congrats on the success of your fundraiser so far! I’d recommend raising the goal amount. That way, donors will know exactly how much they should contribute to help you reach that goal. Transparency is super important, so I’d even suggest including an update message that explains why you’re raising the amount and what funds will be used for. You can also learn more here about building trust with donors:
